From the B&B Maison Il Melograno you can easily reach the historic center of the Republic of San Marino by car or public transport (bus). The most scenic, fast and adventurous way is to use the cableway that starts from Borgo Maggiore. Leave the car in the adjacent parking lot, get on board the transport cabins and start a steep uphill: the short route offers a wonderful view of over 200 km of the Adriatic coast. Once you reach your destination, you will find yourselves directly in the heart of the capital: a small jewel of atmospheres and art treasures enclosed in narrow streets and alleys full of stores, craft shops, museums and medieval buildings. You will breathe everywhere an ancient atmosphere from “once upon a time”. At sunset, the hilly landscape offers different colors in every season, creating an evocative show.
In the oldest Republic of the world, whose historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008, you cannot miss a visit to the Government Palace, (Palazzo del Governo, the center of the political life of San Marino), to the Basilica del Santo (the main church of the village dedicated to its founder) and to the State Museum (which contains more than 5,000 historical and artistic pieces linked to the history and legend of San Marino). Also, it is worth a walk through the “Passo delle Streghe“, a spectacular trail that connects the three medieval towers that stand on top of Mount Titano. Other interesting stops are the Museum of Torture, the Museum of Curiosities and the Wax Museum.
The sports offer in San Marino is particularly interesting for tourists. Various routes are available for those who love trekking, and along the various trails you will find five walls equipped for Free Climbing. You can also practice horse riding thanks to the presence of riding stables and schools, on site or in the surrounding hills. For the lovers of flight there are several launching points for hang-gliding and parachuting, while for private planes drivinf the San Marino Aeroclub organizes flight courses with the release of a tourist patent at the Torraccia airfield. Even shooting lovers can count on modern facilities with a polygon for clay pigeon shooting, while rifle range can be practiced at the Shooting Stand. Fields are available for training on the Olympic Pit, Compak, Triplet, Skeet and Double Trap. For guided tours and information, you can contact the SMXplore cooperative. Cyclists and mountain bikers can contact the San Marino Cycling Experience for initiatives and cycle routes. In this regard, the B&B Maison Il Melograno offers its guests a small equipped workshop, to repair racing bicycles and mountain bikes.
At 5 minutes distance you will find the Multieventi sports center, which hosts an olympic swimming pool, a soccer field, a baseball pitch, a basketball parquet and a volleyball field. Furthermore, it is also venue of sports events and important competitive contests.
